eighty-five
i'm so scared
to write anything
that someone might see
because it's all so close to home
(get it?)
I'M HERE
and somehow
it's not what i thought it would be
in places as these
i never think i need adjustment time
but it seems like i need something
why does it feel like i need something new?
this is all new
but so much of the same
maybe you were right
i did idealize it
and how can a place stay perfect
once you're in it?
i just want my roomie to get here
and for classes to start
and to feel normal
oh, boone
you've stayed yourself
and i have changed, again
to write anything
that someone might see
because it's all so close to home
(get it?)
I'M HERE

i never think i need adjustment time

Hi,
I'm a fact finder from AHIP (AMERICAN HELL IN PROGRESS) and we would greatly be interested (but don't be alarmed if your responses are met with a resounding silence, because silence is our business) in hearing your opinions about any future you might see in a society devoid of any and all choices - for your safety sake, of course. It is our belief (our beliefs are in no way to be associated with faith or any other unproductive imaginative endeavour) that Americans should not be bothered with petty worries and should instead, entrust all decision making to our (AHIP's membership manifest, if and when signed, entails that if and when AHIP changes hands or becomes an entirely different entity, the signer's involvement in our system will be transferred to the willing and capable hands of whoever we happen to be liquidated by) foolproof managerial structure. There is no fear in paper work friend! Your hassles are over. Please, send in fingerprint samples and bloodwork as soon as you understand how perfectly right we are. SEE YOU SOON!
